A guide for bidders
New or Non-regular bidders complete a registration form. For new buyers, we require a credit check relating to the potential purchase amounts. If you are a first time buyer please pay particular attention to the Terms and Conditions for our auctions which appear on this site and in particular the Buyers Premium and the terms for purchase of electrical goods.
If you cannot attend our auction room then please be advised that bids can be taken for customers via commission bid, and phone bids are taken by arrangement. The buyer shall pay the hammer price together with a premium thereon of 19.5% on all lots. VAT at the current rate will be added to the premium.
Please be aware we operate under the Auctioneers VAT margin scheme, lots marked “Yes” are vatable at the current rate, lots marked “Inc” are VAT inclusive and lots marked “Zero” are zero rated.
The following methods of payment are accepted: Cash, Cheques (from known customers or after credit confirmation), Banker’s draft and debit cards (IN PERSON ONLY). We no longer accept credit cards or payment over the telephone. If payment is made by cheque the goods will not be released until after the cheque has cleared - normally eight days from receipt.
We ask for goods to be cleared within 2 days of the sale. Special arrangements can be made if required, as we have no storage facilities.
A guide for vendors
For any vendor wishing to submit a consignment for auction we discuss the nature of the consignment, and arrange for a visit by one of our valuators or alternatively have photographs sent, to get an idea of the size and value of the consignment. Subsequently, we can arrange for a collection of the goods.
The seller will receive a list of the goods assigned to each sale, listing the items included in the sale, with sale date, lot number, and a copy of conditions of sale.
We operate a sliding commission charge to minimise the commission on higher value items.
Fast payment arrangement can be made, otherwise, payments will be sent out after 6 weeks. Payments will not be made until the funds have been cleared.
For all assets situated in our saleroom we have insurance against theft, fire and flood damage.
